Rol Critical DM Matthew Mercer provided an additional context on the end of the episode last night. A few weeks ago, rol Critico launched his third calaboons and dragons campaign. Like many other D & D campaigns, the first episodes focused on feeling the characters of others and start exploring possible hooks from the plot. However, last night s episode unexpectedly sent the campaign in a new direction.
[Spoilers for Campaign 3, Episode 3 Follows]
One of the surprises in campaign 3 was the return of Sir Bertrand Bell, played by the TRAVIS WILLINGHAM cast member. Bell had previously appeared in two unique adventures of Vox Machina and settled as an adventurer and contact now elderly (and something cowardly). Unlike the characters of the other cast members, Bell was a level 5 character to reflect the experience and age of it.
However, at the end of the episode last night, Bell apparently found the final of him at the hands of a killer who approached him while drunk. While many speculated that Bell was just a temporary character, nobody expected Bell to face such a somber destiny.
Shortly after the emission of the episode, Mercer took Twitter to explain the turn and how it emerged. «Travis wanted the one of him [campaign 3] character of him to join a little further (not like many classic JRPG), but he generated a problem, Mercer said on Twitter. He wanted Travis at the table and present for the first episode at least or more! When you are given the option to create a character, [Travis] was inspired to bring Sir Bertrand Bell back for this purpose, and we discussed the means of departure from it. Travis proposed the somber finish, but he agreed that he would not know how or when, and so, we anchored Bertrand in history and observe where things were going.
Mercer also pointed out that Travis would return to the table soon with a completely new character. Do not worry, Mercer said. «Travis will return in the near future with that of him» true character of C3, and it will be an explosion to see the roads crash!
